The Dubak family moves to the Šiška katun (mountain hut) on Bjelasica during the summer months, continuing a long family tradition of mountain life. Đorđije and Slavica spend their summers at the katun, tending to daily livestock and household chores, while their children and their families often join them. In recent years, they have opened their doors to guests who wish to experience this authentic way of life.
Their household is based on various branches of agriculture—livestock farming, beekeeping, and the cultivation of fruits and vegetables. Everything they produce is used in their daily diet, giving guests the opportunity to taste homemade and freshly prepared products, ranging from dairy specialties to juices, liqueurs, jams, and brandies.
The hosts, Slavica and Đorđije, leave a special impression on every visitor, with hospitality felt in every detail. Everything here is sincere and warm. Slavica takes particular care of the dining table; you certainly won’t leave hungry, as she always has “just one more thing” to try, and leaving food on your plate is simply not an option. It is this attention and genuine relationship with guests that makes a stay here unforgettable.
Staying at Katun Šiška offers a perfect opportunity for rest in a natural environment. Nearby are the Great and Small Šiško Lakes, as well as Ševarinsko Lake, while Ursulovačko and Biogradsko Lakes can be reached by hiking. The area is crossed by hiking and biking routes, including the themed katun trail “Untold Bjelasica,” making this an excellent starting point for exploring the mountain and enjoying an active holiday.
The hosts, Slavica and Đorđije, are open and helpful, and their sons, Igor and Ivan, are also available to guests for anything they might need. Along with accommodation, they offer homemade food and the chance to participate in daily katun activities—such as animal care, working in the apiary or garden, picking wild teas and blueberries, or horseback riding. Camping is also available on their property.
